Three technologies, one clinic.
Different problems sit at different depths. Having all three means we can match the treatment to the tissue.
Focused shockwave (F-ESWT)
Energy focused deeper into the tissue. Used for deep and insertional tendon problems and trigger points.
Radial shockwave (R-ESWT)
Energy that spreads out from the applicator. Used for more superficial pain and muscle problems.
EMTT
Electromagnetic transduction therapy, used alongside shockwave where it adds to the treatment.
What it’s used for
NICE guidance covers shockwave for several stubborn tendon problems, including plantar fasciitis.
How a course works.
Simple, and planned from the first appointment.
Assessment first
We check that shockwave suits your problem before we start. If it doesn’t, we’ll tell you and treat it another way.
Weekly sessions
Usually a block of five, one every 7 to 10 days. Shockwave triggers a healing response, so the tissue needs time to recover between sessions.
Rehab alongside
Loading exercises run alongside the shockwave, because a tendon needs to get stronger, not just calmer.
Check-ins over 12 weeks
Tendons keep changing after the last session. We check in over the following 12 weeks so your rehab keeps progressing.
£80 a session, or £350 for a block of five.
Most courses are a block of five. Booking the block brings each session down to £70. Some insurers cover shockwave; check your policy before you book.

Shockwave questions
Does shockwave hurt?
It can be uncomfortable while it’s happening. We start low and adjust the intensity to what you can tolerate.
How long is a session?
The shockwave itself takes about 5 to 10 minutes. The rest of the appointment is spent on your rehab.
How many sessions will I need?
Usually a block of five, one every 7 to 10 days, then check-ins over the following 12 weeks.
Is shockwave suitable for everyone?
No. It isn’t used for every condition or every person. We check this at your assessment before any treatment starts.
